Special message from Debby Rich
Hello,

As you may know, my little baby Robin came into the world last Wednesday weighing in at just under 9 pounds! He's ever such a good baby and hardly cries at all! I'm very lucky.

I'd like to thank all of you for your kind messages and flowers. Unfortunately the father is away on business for the time being but I would like to thank you on his behalf too.

Once the photos are developed I shall publish them!

Lots of love,

Debby

Sarah Kennedy - regular goer at AscotSarah does her bit for Children in Need
Despite being on holiday in South Africa, Sarah was the main draw on Radio 2 this morning in the form of Terry Wogan's Children in Need auction. The item in question (from the Radio 2 website):

A chance for you and your guest to live the high-life with the society movers-and-shakers and top celebrities for the final day of Royal Ascot, on June 19th next year. You'll be put up at a smart Central London hotel for a night, before being chauffeured with Sarah Kennedy [and Her Much Beloved] to the celebrated race meeting. You'll join Sarah in the Weatherbys private box, you'll quaff plenty of food and drink, courtesy of Weatherbys, and enjoy the Royal Parade.

After much interest it reached the price of £8,350 from 'Anon of Scotland'. Well done! I'm sure you'll have a lovely time.

Mummy’s Tomb – where Sarah first popped her cherryLessons learned from today’s show
  • John Marsh (aka Marshypops) did an autograph-signing session yesterday. Colin Berry and the Hamiltons were there.
  • SK thinks hostess trolleys are ‘naff’.
  • Sarah regaled us with a funny story from listener Robin Gibblet. He went to the cinema to see Top Gun with his girlfriend. They started canoodling when Maria McKee came on, only for the young girl in front to turn round and drop her dripping ice cream into the man’s lap. ‘I thought you were suffocating the lady’, said the girl! This reminded Sarah of her first kiss, whilst watching The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb.
Peach jam – Lynn Bowel’s poison
  • Lynn Bowles has rudely been ordering Sarah that she must bring her back a present from South Africa – as long as it’s not peach jam.
  • Sarah will now be away for two whole weeks. She will be sadly missed.
    Alex Fester takes over.

Sarah Kennedy's croissantLessons learned from today's excellent show
  • Macy Gray and Nina Simone both frighten Sarah.
  • Sarah's special term for 'The Kinks' is 'The Kinkingtons'.
  • Whilst reading the news Marshypops (aka John Marsh), 'bow-tied and with a shock of white hair', was 'clutching Sarah's croissant'.
  • SK received a lovely parcel in the post today -- a Christmas pud from the Motor Neurone Disease Association Office.
  • Before coming in to work this morning, Sarah had to do a bit of filleting.
  • Yet again, Sarah shared the story of her being mistaken for Doris Day (see earlier posts).
  • Unfortunately, SK's washing machine has broken down. She wants Lynn to look at it, as she'd rather not have to get a man out to repair it for £50.

Lynn Bowels with her not-so-secret lover, Kennneth BruceLessons learned from today's show
  • Sarah said that listening to the show from 7:10-7:30 was sufficient for most listeners.
  • Lynn Bowles decided to tease Sarah about wearing glasses this morning. SK said she only wears them in the studio when doing the newspaper review, becuase the 'print in The Telegraph is so bad'.

Pickled onions - Wogan's choice of morning snackLessons learned from today's show
  • Sarah made a 'culinary disaster' last Sunday. She managed to serve up cold beef, cold gravy and a flat yorkshire pud. I hear that 'her' Dearly Beloved was not impressed...
  • Terry Wogan offered Sarah a crunchy pickled onion during her programme today.
  • Lynne Bowels decided to berate SK again over her choice of clothing. 'Too bright', Lynn moaned miserably about Sarah's lovely bright pullover. At least SK got her own back when she quipped, 'I see you've gone for the hen pheasant look again.'

    Lessons learend from today's show
  • Sarah was awoken at 2am last night due to loud fireworks.
  • SK didn't make it to Salisbury yesterday because there was a car on the train track.
